Arsenal will be taking a gamble if they push through a deal for Boca Juniors attacker Cristian Pavon, it has been claimed.
Pavon, who can play as a striker and on the flank, has been tracked by the Gunners this season with claims from Argentine media sources of Arsenal being prepared to match the 22 year-old's £28m buyout clause.
However, Italian agent Gianfranco Cicchetti, who is an expert on the Argentine transfer market, says Pavon needs an 'intermediary step' before he is ready to play for a club the size of Arsenal.
Cicchetti is a big fan of Pavon, but told Tribalfootball.com: "Pavon is one the most talented players in the Primera Division. He's a 1996, a technical and fast winger, one of the most interesting players seen in recent times from the Boca Juniors academy. He is a player for the future, but he still needs to play and grow in order to fit into a top European club."
Tellingly, Cicchetti says Arsenal cannot expect an instant impact should they land Pavon this summer.
He adds: "To play for a smaller club could be the best choice for him, at least in the earliest stages of his career in Europe."
