Italian agent Gianfranco Cicchetti says Roma will have regrets over the sale of Mohamed Salah to Liverpool last summer.
Salah, who left Roma for the Reds for a fee rising to €50m, has been outstanding this season, with Giallorossi chief Monchi conceding the timing of the sale worked against them. Salah was sold by Roma just weeks after PSG smashed the transfer market with their €222m swoop for Neymar at Barcelona.
Cicchetti, who has close ties to Roma, can understand Monchi's regret. He told Tribalfootball.com: "With the benefit of hindsight, yes, Roma could have cashed in for more.
"But we should not forget that Roma had FFP (financial fair play) problems. They were forced to accept the Reds' offer. At the moment, the Egyptian managed to triple his value, but his explosion is not a surprise.
"Apart from the Chelsea experience, Salah has played well everywhere he's gone and the Premier League is perfect for him and for his characteristics. Now he is 26 years old and at his peak."
Tellingly, Cicchetti added: "Real Madrid could buy him during the next transfer market window. It is a possibility..."
