Ex-Wolfsburg defender Bushiri joins Los Angeles Blues

USL Pro Division outfit Los Angeles Blues have announced the signing of defender Ladislas Bushiri.

The 26-year old Congo-born Canadian has signed for the 2012 season, joining the Blues from Indonesian club Persitara Jakarta Utara.

Bushiri joined German Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg in 2007 where he was loaned to Armini Beilefeld and will be a great signing for Los Angeles according to associate head coach Shayon Jalayer.

"Of course, the first thing that stands out about Ladi is his physical presence," Jalayer said. "He's tall, strong and very good in the air, which should help us take care of one of our main weaknesses from last season - our vulnerability on set pieces. Having Ladi on the field will just give us an added security blanket in that regard.

"At the same time, we need more than just the grunt type of defender who can win tackles and headers. Ladi fits the bill perfectly because he also has very soft feet and knows how to play our style. We expect him to win balls defensively and then start the attack with smart distributions to the midfield."
