Ex-Wigan, Man Utd keeper Carroll holding onto Northern Ireland hopes

Olympiakos goalkeeper Roy Carroll believes he still has a future in the Northern Ireland national team.

The 34-year old former Hull City, Wigan Athletic and Manchester United man recently joined the Greek club and is intent on again playing for his country who have started a new era under Michael O'Neill.

"I hope to play for my national team again. I hope so," he told Sky Sports.

"Michael is a good person, he did well at Shamrock Rovers and he took over a big job at Northern Ireland.

"I wish him the best and I am sure that he can make it. I used to play with him so I know what he is like, as a player and person.

"I want to play for my national team so I have to see what happens the next few weeks.

"I always wanted to play for my country, I have never turned them down."
