Ex-West Ham youth Hudson takes control of Bahrain

The Bahrain national football team have appointed promising English coach Anthony Hudson as manager.

The 32-year old former West Ham United youth, who had playing stints at Luton Town and NEC Nijmegen, has taken over the Bahrain senior team after overseeing the U23s and has replaced Argentine Gabriel Calderon, who was sacked after Bahrain were eliminated from World Cup qualifying.

Hudson, the son of former England international Alan, spent time with Harry Redknapp at Tottenham but has also coached in the USA and took the reins at Welsh side Newport County in 2011.

He has more recently worked under Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid and Marco Bielsa at Athletic Bilbao.
