Ex-West Ham striker Dani blasts Redknapp: Jamie's great, but Harry...

Former West Ham striker Dani has slammed manager Harry Redknapp.

Redknapp signed the 19-year-old on loan after he caught the eye in a friendly match between Portugal and England at Wembley, having previously made his professional debut for Sporting CP two years previous.

"When I arrived they were 16th out of 18 teams [sic] and afterwards we quickly climbed to seventh or eighth. But with a month and a half of the season yet to be played, we had no chance to qualify for Europe or be relegated," he told Tribuna Expresso.

"We had a training camp in the south of Spain, in which they spent the entire time drinking beer and playing golf. We went for a run like once or twice a week.

"The manager, Harry Redknapp, had the nerve to tell me: 'Now, I'm going to take you off the team until the end of the season, so your price goes down and then we buy you.'

"I asked him not to do that since I had the chance of going to the Euros and without playing it would be unlikely. He answer was: 'I don't care. Couldn't care less about the Euros of Portugal. I want to buy you so I can have you next season, so you're not playing anymore.'"

"I tried to flee to Portugal but my agent and my father convinced me to return. Redknapp didn't get along with me or half of the players he managed, he has a terrible image. He son, Jamie Redknapp, is great but he isn't."
