Former West Ham midfielder Diego Poyet is pursuing his career in Argentina.

Poyet has joined Godoy Cruz, the Argentine club have stated.

The midfielder, who is the son of former Chelsea and Spurs midfielder Gustavo Poyet, had been a free agent since leaving West Ham last summer.

He will now resume his career in Argentina after passing his medical at Godoy Cruz.

Writing on his Twitter account on Wednesday, the 21-year-old said: “New challenge in Argentina soon. [I am] grateful to Godoy Cruz for the opportunity. To give it everything."
