Ex-West Ham loanee John thrilled to be back playing for FC Dallas

FC Dallas defender George John made his first start for the 2012 MLS season on the weekend and admits it felt good to be back in action.

The 24-year old, who recently had a six-week loan spell with West Ham United, played all 90 minutes of his side's 2-1 loss to Sporting Kansas City at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park.

Despite Dallas losing, John was happy to be back playing and has indicated that things will improve once the Texan club gets some key players back from international duty and injury.

"Obviously, it felt good being out there at the starting whistle of a game and making it through all 90 minutes," John told MLSsoccer.com.

"Our team is going through some adjustments right now, missing Brek [Shea], Carlos [Rodriguez], David [Ferreira] and Fabian [Castillo], but it felt good to be out there with the starting 11. It was unfortunate we didn't get a good result, but that's how it goes sometimes."

And John is also aiming to improve personally even though he was content with his overall performance.

"I always think I can do better," he added. "[Sunday] was one of those occasions. I haven't had a lot of time with the backline.

"I've played with Ugo (Ihemelu) for the last two years now, but you still need that base to build off of, and I wasn't here during preseason. I came back and understood my place on the team. Hopefully, it'll come back sooner rather than later."
