Ex-West Ham keeper Hislop backing Grant for success

Former West Ham United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop hopes new manager Avram Grant can strengthen their squad this summer.

Hislop is happy to see the former Chelsea and Portsmouth boss in charge at Upton Park.

He told whufc.com: "West Ham will always be a very special place for me - the way the club is run, the history behind the club and the playing mentality are what the fans want to see.

"I've met Avram Grant on a couple of occasions and he is a wonderful man. I hope he does a great job at West Ham and takes the club to where it should be.

"For long periods last season, the club flirted with relegation and nobody likes to see that, but in typical West Ham fashion, they didn't sacrifice the playing style for points.

"I hope Avram respects the traditions of West Ham United and gets results. Whether that means wholesale changes, I'm not sure that is necessary, but he certainly needs to get everybody on the same page."
