Former West Ham United manager Alan Pardew is believed to be 'strongly interested' in the now-vacant Newcastle United position.
A source close to the 49-year old, who has also coached at Reading, Charlton and Southampton after a playing career which included stints at Crystal Palace, Charlton and Barnet, revealed to MirrorFootball that he was indeed attracted to the role.
Chris Hughton's shock sacking on Monday afternoon has opened the door for Pardew who has been out of work at a coaching level since his exit from Southampton in August.
