Former Watford winger Steven Berghuis believes he can get beyond the Eredivisie.

The Holland international signed permanently for Feyenoord over the summer.

Berghuis told Voetbal International: "I can really stay here for years. I have stated to myself that I want to do better than last year.

"I think that if I develop my way, my ceiling is higher than the Eredivisie. I know I'll have to make it so and I'm working hard on that."

Berghuis played for former Holland coach Dick Advocaat at AZ Alkmaar.

"That he did not select me, tells me I should be better. That's how I really see that. No, Advocaat did not call. It's just good between us."
