Former Watford captain Jay DeMerit is remaining patient as he continues his search for a new club.

The 30-year old USA international's contract with the Hornets was not renewed this summer and he has been on the lookout for a new home since June.

DeMerit admits he has had some interest but is not jumping into anything just yet.

"It is not that there has not been any interest, but nothing has really bitten me," DeMerit told the BBC. "I am not suggesting that I am going to get a move to Chelsea or anything like that, but I am hoping there are teams in England or around Europe that can test me at the highest level.

"I like to think that I have got a lot to offer," he added. "That was the original thinking, but things haven't really gone to plan."
