Ex-Villarreal skipper Senna guides NY Cosmos to NASL title

New York Cosmos have claimed the 2013 North American Soccer League Soccer Bowl for season 2013.

Spanish midfielder Marcos Senna was the hero with the only goal of the championship match against Atlanta Silverbacks, scoring in the 50th minute from long range, to lead the Cosmos to glory in their debut season in the competition.

The Cosmos, who also won the Fall title in 2013, managed to keep the Silverbacks at bay in front of their home fans and it was a display warmly welcomed by jubilant head coach Giovanni Savarese.

"It's an exciting day for sure, the New York Cosmos are back," said Savarese.

"I'm very proud of the players because they accomplished great things. Tonight, winning a championship and bringing a championship back to New York is a proud moment for us.
