Ex-Villa, NYRB ace Angel present for Chivas USA training

Juan Pablo Angel turned up for Chivas USA’s first pre-season training session despite not yet having a deal in place.

The 36-year old Colombian striker is not contracted to the Rojiblancos after joining in a trade from LA Galaxy in August but felt it important to kick things off from the start indicating that a deal is imminent.

“I wanted to start preseason from day one,” Angel said.

“There are still minor details to take care of, but the will from both sides is there and we hope that over the next few days everything is going to be sorted out. I’m very optimistic.”

Former Arsenal. Derby County, Crystal Palace and Millwall winger Ryan Smith was also present at training after signing a deal from San Jose Earthquakes late last year.
