Former Aston Villa captain Martin Laursen feels Paul Lambert has the fans excited again.
Laursen likens the Lambert effect to the excitement Martin O'Neill's appointment prompted at Villa six years ago.
"I'm looking forward to seeing Aston Villa play under the new manager Paul Lambert," he told the Sunday Mercury.
"From what I hear there is a lot of good feeling at the club now that he is there. It reminds me of the chaos and excitement when Martin O'Neill came to the club.
"He comes with a very good reputation from Norwich and I am hoping he can do a very good job for Villa.
"No disrespect to anyone, but things can only get better.
"I was at Villa Park a couple of times last season and the atmosphere was dead - it was really bad. The way Aston Villa played football, I didn't like it. They were not going forward, they were not looking to attack. It was like they were playing with the handbreak on."
