Ex-Villa boss O'Neill wanted at Fulham

Martin O'Neill is the man Fulham owner Mohamed Al Fayed wants to fill the void left by Mark Hughes.

The Daily Star says Hughes last night sensationally quit as Fulham boss - leaving the way clear for O'Neill to take charge at Craven Cottage.

As it was not thought Hughes was under any pressure from Al Fayed, and with Aston Villa seemingly not keen, mystery surrounds why Hughes has chosen to leave the club now.

Fulham have wasted no time looking at their own options for next season and O'Neill is the clear preferred choice.
