Former Villa boss and player Little, who has also managed Saturday's opponents Stoke, can understand why Lambert wants to keep the atmosphere at Bodymoor Heath bright and breezy.
"I think the most important thing is, like the manager says, let's get through the season together, let's hopefully survive this season, then I'm sure he himself will reflect," Little told the Birmingham Mail.
"The problems that are there he obviously doesn't want to highlight too much.
"He's got to look on the positive side, he's got to keep believing in what they're doing.
"He's got to keep his players right. He is right to hang on to what he believes in and keep the positivity going in the dressing room.
"It's the ones with that strength of character that will come through it.
"Hopefully, in the summer, he will add to what is potentially a pretty decent squad."
