Ex-USA international Sorber appointed Montreal Impact assistant

Former USA midfielder Mike Sorber has been announced as an assistant coach for incoming MLS franchise Montreal Impact.

The 40-year old has joined Jesse Marsch's coaching staff ahead of the 2012 season - the Impact's first in North America's top flight - to reunite with his fellow former USA national team assistant.

"Mike's experience both coaching and playing at the international level will be invaluable for our organization as we build towards 2012," Marsch said in a statement.

"He also has great knowledge of MLS players and teams, which will help us prepare for our inaugural season."

Sorber has extensive knowledge of Major League Soccer following his playing career with the old Kansas City Wizards (now Sporting KC), MetroStars (now NY Red Bulls), New England Revolution and Chicago Fire which ended in 2000.
