Kudus Oyenuga knows he has plenty of work to do before he becomes a fan favourite at Dundee United.

The 20-year old former Tottenham youth has been plucked from Conference side Hayes & Yeading United, along with good friend Calum Butcher, and is determined to show the Terrors supporters why the Scottish club have signed him from such a low division.

“I scored 19 goals last season, but I had to leave because Hayes could not afford to pay my wages,” he told SunSport.

“They cut their budget by 25 per cent so myself and Calum both played in a showcase game, set up by a football agency.

“It was for players who had been released or who had no club, so we gave it a go.

“It was good to get spotted because there are a lot of good players still looking for something. I know United are a big club so I appreciate getting this move. I have been lucky, but my philosophy is if you work hard enough you will get lucky.

“I was in Scotland on loan at St Johnstone 18 months ago and that was a good experience for me.

“I did not play much, but I was only 18 so it was still good to be around first-team players and train with them.

“But United is a totally different challenge and Jackie McNamara is a different manager to Steve Lomas.

“Also I am a different player to what I was then. I am more of a man now.”
