Former Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker admits he has coaching ambitions.
Fulham's club captain has studied hard for six years to gain his Uefa Pro Licence and has a burning desire to put it to use.
He told The Sun: “It is getting tougher. The comparison is with the young boy of 19 or 20 trying to force his way into the first team.
“That is probably the position I am going to be in, at the end of this season or next.
“When you've done something for so long and that routine is so much of your life, then all of a sudden, at 36, everything is gone, you have to keep options open.
“But my main passion is coaching. My goal would be to manage a team. I feel more comfortable in that than doing TV.
“We ask about our young British players, 'Are they getting opportunities?' You can say exactly the same for English coaches and managers.
“There is only so long a player who is retired and has done his badges can sit around hoping to get into a good role before they start thinking about getting into media. And management is really volatile too."
