Ex-Tottenham keeper Walker takes first management steps

Former Tottenham goalkeeper Ian Walker has taken his first step into management at Bishop's Stortford.

Walker's playing career spanned 17 seasons and also included a four-year spell with Leicester City.

He joined Bolton in 2005 but failed to make a single league appearance during his three years at the Reebok.

Walker was capped four times by England, making his debut in 1996 against Hungary.

Former Newport County No 2 Fraser Skimming has been named as his assistant and first team coach at the Conference South club.

Chairman Luigi Del Basso said: "This is an exciting appointment for the club.

"We are pleased to be able to bring an experienced player like Ian to the club following what has been a difficult recent few weeks."
