Ex-Tottenham goalkeeper Jennings: Bale deserves award

Former Tottenham goalkeeper Pat Jennings believes that Gareth Bale thoroughly deserves his PFA Player of the Year award.

The 21-year old winger was voted in as the best player by the Professional Footballers' Association, beating the likes of Samir Nasri of Arsenal, Manchester City captain Carlos Tevez, Blackpool's Charlie Adam, Tottenham teammate Rafael van der Vaart and Manchester United's Nemanja Vidic to win the award and Jennings was full of praise for him.

"He's had an unbelievable season, especially in the Champions League matches against (Inter) Milan," he told Sky Sports News.

"He picked up a little bit of an injury a few weeks back but has come back brilliantly and it is a well-deserved honour, I'm delighted for him."

When asked if he thinks Bale will remain at the club and reject the overtures of bigger European clubs, Jennings was confident that White Hart Lane will continue to be the Welshman's home.

"I think he's quite happy here. He just signed a five-year deal for the club. I think he's delighted, he's Tottenham through and through," he added.
