Ex-Tottenham, Fulham keeper Keller happy for Hahnemann to come to Seattle

Seattle Sounders goalkeeper Kasey Keller has opened the door for Marcus Hahnemann to come to the club.

The 41-year old former Tottenham and Fulham gloveman is set to retire at the end of the 2011 MLS season paving the way for the recently-released Wolves shot-stopper Hahnemann to make his way to Cascadia.

Keller, who is enjoying some good form with the Sounders, told soccerbyives that he would like to see his former USA teammate in action at CenturyLink Field.

"Marcus is one of my very good friends," Keller said. "I'd love for Marcus to get the opportunity that I did, to be able to come home and finish your career at Seattle.

"But I stay out of that stuff. That's none of my business in what direction the team goes. I know there's a lot of hurdles, and it's not as easy as it sounds."

And Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid also said it would be great to have Hahnemann at the club but insists the allocation order of returning US internationals does not favor the Sounders.

"If you tell me all the other teams are going to pass, then I would say yeah, Marcus Hahnemann is coming to Seattle," Schmid said. "I don't think the other teams are going to pass.

"For us, we would love to have Marcus. We would love to have him play in his home town. I think he would love to play in his home town, but I think the rules right now don't allow it."
