Former Tottenham defender Ramon Vega is being linked with a shock takeover of Portsmouth.
The Daily Mail says Vega, 37, who has interests in building companies and investment firms, has emerged as a leading contender to buy from current owner Alexandre Gaydamak.
The Portsmouth hierarchy met Vega on two separate occasions in recent weeks.
Gaydamak completed the buy-out of former chairman Milan Mandaric for £32million in the summer of 2006 and is expected to accept an offer in the region of £60m for last season's FA Cup winners.
