Ex-Tottenham captain King stepping into coaching

Former Tottenham captain Ledley King is stepping up his move into coaching.

King is the last homegrown player to make it at Spurs.

"It is early days but I've done my coaching theory exam and there's a chance I could get into it in the future," King told the London Evening Standard. "I've helped out in a few sessions and I've been trying to get involved as much as I can.

"Tottenham have been such a big part of my life and I've learned a lot along the way, so it's about speaking to the kids and making sure they can listen and learn when advice is passed on.

"It's about young players getting opportunities but it's difficult for them to get through, with the players brought in from abroad and the money spent.

"It's important they're given a chance because the fans love a player who has come through the set-up, someone they can identify with.

"There are some excellent young players here and it's about getting them chances. It's really progressed since I was a youngster and young players are given every chance to push through into the first team."
