Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is keen on the Republic of Ireland job.
Sources close to former Tottenham boss Redknapp confirmed he is now being lined up to take over the plum job, for which he would want a four-year contract.
With Giovanni Trapattoni hanging by a thread, one told The Sun: "He's genuinely intrigued at the possibility of managing Ireland. He's enjoying his time away from the game, but he does want to get back to work."
It's understood people close to Redknapp have already made contact with the FAI over the position and the association is considering its response.
