North American Soccer League (NASL) club Atlanta Silverbacks have signed Efrain 'Junior' Burgos, formerly of MLS club Toronto FC.
The 25-year old El Salvadoran midfielder has joined the Silverbacks ahead of the 2014 NASL season subject to United States Soccer Federation (USSF) approval.
Burgos was selected by TFC in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft before signing with the Reds in March 2012. He made 12 appearances in all competitions while with the Ontario outfit.
Upon signing his Silverbacks deal, Burgos was grateful to the clubs hierarchy for giving him an opportunity.
"I want to thank the entire Silverbacks organization, especially Eric Wynalda, Ricardo Montoya, and Andy Smith, for having faith in my abilities," Burgos said in an official statement.
"I look forward to starting this new chapter in my career, and I can't wait to try and help our team achieve its goal of winning a league title."
Atlanta technical director and head coach Eric Wynalda added: "Junior is a very talented player that just needs an opportunity to re-establish himself.
"He has been involved with the El Salvador national team before, and we expect him to be a big part of their plans moving forward, which is a fantastic achievement."
