Ex-Sydney skipper Corica behind coach Lavicka

Former Sydney FC captain Steve Corica is of firm belief that coach Vitezslav Lavicka should remain in his role despite struggling in the bottom three on the table.

The reigning champions have won just four times in 19 matches this term but Corica feels that the Czech tactician is the right man for the job and should stay on for at least another season.

"Of course I think he should stay on," Corica told AAP.

"I think he's done a fantastic job for the club.

"He won everything in his first year and obviously things haven't gone too well in the second year.

"But I would love for him to stay for another season and give it another go next season."

Sydney are currently sitting ninth on the A-League table with just 18 points. They take on bottom-placed North Queensland Fury in Townsville on Wednesday night - kick-off is 8:00pm local time (9:00pm AEDT).
