Niall Quinn's former Sunderland teammates are urging the chairman to bring Peter Reid back to the club.
The People says in the hours after Roy Keane's departure, Quinn was advised by two former Sunderland stars and both said the former Black Cats boss was the man to drag the team out of their slump.
Reid, who has a get-out clause in his Thailand contract if he's wanted by a British club, said: "The weather is better here and I have signed a four-year deal but I don't think I will see it through. I want to get back to managing in England and give it another go."
