Boudewijn Zenden admits he was left disappointed by Celtic's decision not to sign him to a short-term contract.
The former PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Chelsea, Liverpool and Sunderland midfielder trained with the Hoops last week and impressed manager Neil Lennon enough to win a deal but the Glasgow giants decided to overlook him.
Zenden said it was frustrating to miss out as Lennon wanted him but the Celtic board could not offer anything.
"This is a real disappointment for me. The board has decided that it is not going to happen," he said.
"They have said there is no money for new players at this moment."
