Don Hutchison is of the belief that Newcastle United have a dangerous strike partnership in the making.
The Magpies have not seen a lot from £13million summer signing Aleksandar Mitrovic thus far but former Sunderland midfielder Hutchison suggests the Serbian can form a threatening double act for Steve McClaren with Senegalese ace Papiss Cisse.
"Aleksander Mitrovic has swiped a few headlines for the wrong reasons but I think there's a player in there. He just needs to calm down, start listening to his coaches and eliminate the rash challenges a little bit," Hutchison wrote in his column for the Chronicle.
"I don't know whether he's been brought in to play as a lone front-man but I'd actually like to see him play with Cisse. I know I said Newcastle's best formation might be three up front but I'd also like to see McClaren play those two together because I think there's potential for a combination there.
"I've always thought that Cisse would benefit from someone alongside him who is willing to do a bit of that leg work, and this one could work. Mitrovic is the big man who can maybe bully defenders, while Cisse is more of a natural finisher.
"Does Cisse have a future at Newcastle? It hasn't looked like it at times but now he's definitely here until January so why not use him? Mitrovic needs a bit of help and Cisse might benefit too."
