Ex-Sunderland chairman Quinn impressed by Short summer spending

Former Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn is impressed by the club's summer market work.

Quinn feels club owner Ellis Short has put his money where his mouth is.

He told talkSPORT: "He has a great love for the club.

"You can see with the amount of players that have been signed that he's backing him. That's what a young manager wants.

"When you've been at a club for four years, like he has, and when the club are fighting for place from tenth place down and trying to stay up it's not a very easy place to be.

"It's not an easy ride with other teams getting to cup finals and into European competitions but Ellis has always put his money where his heart is and Paolo is benefitting from that now."
