Former Sunderland boss Paolo di Canio is being linked with Bristol City.
The Mail on Sunday says Di Canio wants a swift return after being sacked by Sunderland and has support among some of the hierarchy at Ashton Gate where manager Sean O'Driscoll is under pressure despite Saturday's 4-2 win at Carlisle.
The 45-year-old Italian has experience of the lower leagues and made an impact as Swindon manager, winning the League Two title in 2012 before resigning the following season after a change of club ownership.
But he lost his job at Sunderland after collecting one point in five games and sparking a dressing-room mutiny following harsh criticism of players.
