Former Tottenham coach and striker Clive Allen wants to see Glenn Hoddle succeed Andre Villas-Boas.
AVB is expected to be sacked by chairman Daniel Levy once a replacement is found.
Of Hoddle's prospects, Allen told talkSPORT: "Oh, yes. I would say without a doubt that Glenn could be ready for that. There's no doubt."
Allen added: "At the moment he [Daniel Levy] has got to persevere [with AVB] because the bottom line is a top four finish and they are five points off of that at the moment.
"If that gap extends and it becomes a situation where they are beginning to worry about whether they will finish in the top four, which at the moment it looks like they will not finish in the top four, then it is worrying times for AVB."
