Former Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker admits the success of Harry Kane has surprised him.
Parker and Kane were team-mates for two years between 2011 and 2013, long before the latter became one of the Barclays Premier League's top forwards.
"I would be lying if I said I thought he would be the striker he is today," Parker said on Sky Sports.
"When I was at Spurs, Harry would be training with us and if there was one doubt about him it would be his athleticism, how he got across the ground, how he moved.
"He always scored goals, he would always nick a couple of goal in five-a-side, but you used to look at him and just worry whether in the modern day if he would be able to get away from players.
"He want on loan a couple of times and had a couple of unsuccessful loan periods. Then he went to Millwall and scored some goals."
Despite the doubts Parker harboured he was always impressed by his team-mate's work ethic.
"The one thing I will say is that he had a real drive and a real work ethic, that has put him in the position he is in today," he added.
"He's obviously got talent but for any kid growing up, he's got that real drive about him which has got him where he is today."
