Ex-Spurs fullback Assou-Ekotto in furious social media clash with PSG striker Mbappe

Former Tottenham star Benoit Assou-Ekotto has attacked PSG striker Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe has found himself in a war of words after attending an event in Paris alongside French President Emmanuel Macron "to launch a platform that will support sport in Africa."

Assou-Ekotto hit out at Mbappe, mocking him for holding Africa in his heart, yet opting to play for Les Bleus.

The former Cameroon international tweeted: "These European players of African descent who hold Africa in their hearts and who want to help African sport blah blah blah while eager to play for a European selection you make me softly laugh... but it makes good causes."

Mbappe was quick to hit back at the Metz defender though—who was born in France—mocking him for headbutting Cameroon team-mate Benjamin Moukandjo during the 2014 World Cup.

Mbappe tweeted back at Assou-Ekotto: "These African players who hold Africa in their hearts and want to help African sport blah-blah-blah blah while fighting with a teammate on the international scene in 2014.... You make me softly laugh... but these are your values."
