Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has defended England striker Harry Kane.
Kane has been accused of appearing to be jaded after an energy-sapping season leading Tottenham's front line but Redknapp is adamant the 22-year-old could still have a big part to play in France.
"If he had got a goal under his best his performances, and those allegations of tiredness, would not even get mentioned," Redknapp told The Telegraph.
"It would be foolish to write off Harry Kane, whose place is under threat, and it would not surprise me if he plays some part and scores [against Slovakia].
"It is not impossible that he starts. It would not surprise me in the least if Kane scored tonight.
"But whether he plays or not, Harry will come good again and it makes me laugh how people are so quick to write players off.
"He was branded a one-season wonder at the start of last season yet he ended it with the Golden Boot."
