Former Tottenham boss David Pleat was unimpressed by England's performance at the U20 World Cup.
It is now 16 years since England last managed to win a game at the U20s World Cup finals - a Michael Owen goal that earned them victory over Mexico in 1997.
Pleat told the Daily Express: "We have to restore the pride of playing for your country with England.
"Players have got to want to play for the national side. I don't feel there is the same determination to be capped as there once was.
"International football used to be bigger than club football. Players are now getting too much money at a young age and the patriotism of playing for your country is not there. The FA has to discuss it."
