Former Scotland defender David Robertson is desperate for the chance to become manager at his former club Aberdeen. The 42-year-old, who is based in Arizona as a coach at Sereno Soccer Club, began his professional career with the Dons before spells with Rangers and Leeds and would jump at the opportunity to return as successor to Mark McGhee, who left the club on Wednesday.
Robertson said in the Aberdeen Evening Express: "Aberdeen are my club.
"The opportunity to manage them is about the only thing that would persuade me to give up the great lifestyle my family have in the USA to come back to Scotland.
"I doubt if I would be top of the list of candidates the Aberdeen FC directors are drawing up to succeed Mark McGhee.
"But I can assure them I would swim back across the Atlantic if they were to offer me the chance to be boss at Pittodrie."
