Ex-ref Poll: No reason to charge Man Utd boss Ferguson

Ex-ref Graham Poll says Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson should not be charged for his comments about Martin Atkinson after defeat at Chelsea.

In his column for the Daily Mail, Poll opined: " "Sir Alex Ferguson should not be charged for his post-match comments following Manchester United's defeat at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening.

"Post-match interviews provide a great service to fans, but I think the FA should acknowledge that emotions are running high, and allow managers leeway in what they say.

"This is exactly the same principle which referees apply to dissent and abusive language during a match: officials will generally make allowances for 'heat of the moment' abuse."
