Former Real Madrid GM Jorge Valdano has jumped to the defence of Zinedine Zidane over this season's struggles.

Zidane's job future is in doubt as Real struggle to stay in touch with the LaLiga top four this term.

But Valdano told El Transistor: "Zidane does not seem confused.

"He knows how to handle the situation and this is the most important.

"I think it's a good thing that Zidane stays true to his ideas when the environment around him demands change."
