Ex-Real Madrid coach Grande: Zidane can never feel job secure

Former Spain assistant coach Toni Grande feels Zinedine Zidane is on shaky ground at Real Madrid.

Grande was with Vicente del Bosque at Real Madrid before their controversial dismissal.

"Whether Zidane continues as coach depends on the president [Florentino Perez]," Grande said. "Sometimes Vicente [Del Bosque] and I would be in the box seats and supporters would whistle at us and I came to think they were calculated.

"At other stadiums like the Calderon, Pizjuan or Camp Nou, we never had that problem."

The former La Roja right hand man also spoke of Del Bosque's time in charge of Los Blancos more specifically, and the ensuing aftermath.

"Those who censored Del Bosque didn't know him," he said. "Even though some thought he was soft, he too had a strong character.

"The way Real Madrid fired us was with contempt and completely unfair.

"It really hurt the way they told us they wouldn't renew our contracts - it is the same thing that happened with Fernando Redondo, Figo, Raul and Iker Casillas.

"What makes me saddest about Real Madrid is the way they say goodbye to their employees, without the class that had been part of the club's identity."
