Former Real Madrid GM Jorge Valdano believes they can haul in leaders Barcelona.

Barca are four points clear of Real at the top of the table.

"Four points isn't much," said Valdano.

"We all know that Real Madrid are perfectly capable of winning ten games on the trot - in fact, they won 20 earlier this season. And if they win them, there's a big chance they'll be league champions."

On Cristiano Ronaldo's goal celebration in defeat at Barca, Valdano added: "It's tough playing at the Camp Nou and it's not easy being Cristiano Ronaldo. I don't think the gesture was provocative or evidence of a cocky attitude."
