Carlo Ancelotti has denied he was sounded out by Liverpool as a replacement for sacked Reds boss Brendan Rodgers.
The Merseyside club eventually unveiled former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp as their new manager, but not before the publication of reports claiming Ancelotti had turned down the opportunity to take over at Anfield.
The 56-year-old Italian has moved quickly to quash rumours suggesting he had been in contact with Liverpool about the job.
"With Liverpool, there was no contact," Ancelotti told Goal.
"When a job becomes available, they always use the names of the coaches currently without a team, so, my name was thrown out there. "But I never had any direct contact with the directors of Liverpool."
