Steve Coppell is set to return to management at Bristol City.
The Mail on Sunday says former Crystal Palace and Reading manager Coppell will be assisted at Ashton Gate by Keith Millen, who has been in caretaker charge since the departure of Gary Johnson last month.
Coppell, 54, feels ready for a new challenge after quitting Reading in May following their play-off semi-final defeat by Burnley.
He recently turned down the chance to manage Palace again because the club were in administration, but feels Bristol City have the resources and ambition to get back into the top flight after a 35-year absence.
His decision will disappoint Burnley, who wanted him to replace Brian Laws next season should they succumb to relegation.
