Andreas Herzog has been appointed as the new assistant to USA national team manager Juergen Klinsmann.
The 43-year old former Rapid Vienna, Werder Bremen, Bayern Munich and LA Galaxy midfielder has left his role as Austria U21 coach to link up with good friend Klinsmann.
"Juergen Klinsmann and I have been close friends for many years now. I face this new challenge with great confidence," Herzog said in a statement released by the Austrian Football Association.
Herzog, who retired as a player in 2004, made 103 international appearances for Austria and was also assistant manager of his national team under Josef Hickersberger and Karel Brueckner before taking the U21 reins.
