Aberdeen manager Craig Brown feels that bringing Nacho Novo to the club would not have sat well with supporters.
Former Rangers striker Novo was offered to Brown but the Dons boss has revealed that he simply could bring the Spaniard to Pittodrie because of his history against the club.
Novo, currently with Sporting Gijon, was sent off for a shocking challenge on Aberdeen's Stuart Duff in May 2008 while he was also penalised by the SFA for a 'one-finger salute' at Pittodrie in November 2009 and Brown said it would have been a bad move to bring him to Aberdeen.
"We had a striker offered to us," confirmed Brown. "But as soon as I heard the name I knew we couldn't bring him to Aberdeen.
"He's an ex-Rangers player who has a bit of previous with our supporters and that wouldn't work.
"I am not going to bring someone here that would anger the fans. We want to make them happy and proud of this club and its players."
