Kevin Thomson insists Hibernian is the only club in the UK whom he would happily play with for no pay.
The 28-year old former Rangers and Middlesbrough midfielder is back at Easter Road - where he began his career a decade ago - and playing for free as he returns to full fitness from after a couple of years of injury struggles.
"I wanted to help the club. I'd say Hibs are the only club in Britain for whom I'd play for nothing. If people praise me for playing for nothing that's up to them, I'm just trying to do my best for the team," he said after his second-half cameo in the 0-0 Edinburgh derby draw with Heart of Midlothian on the weekend.
"It wasn't on my mind when I came back but the more I trained and worked with the manager, the more I wanted to play.
"I had a few deals elsewhere that fell through and in the end I asked the manager if I could play.
"I'm not thinking about the summer. I am just looking to get to the end of the season and hopefully making it a successful couple of months."
