Swiss club FC Sion could have landed themselves in hot water after playing Kyle Lafferty without an international clearance.
The former Rangers forward made his debut for his new club in a friendly against French club Marseille on Sunday even though his registration still lies with Ibrox's newco.
The case will now be taken to FIFA with Rangers furious this has been allowed to occur but Sion owner Christian Constantin is confident his club has done nothing wrong.
"Rangers lost all rights to their players when they went into bankruptcy," he said.
"Lafferty is our player now and he will be allowed to work in Switzerland."
It is believed that Sion did not apply for international clearance for 24-year old Lafferty until 24 hours after he played but Sion believe a loophole in the Swiss Football Association's rules allowed them to play the Northern Irishman.
