Ex-PSV midfielder Culina suing FFA

Jason Culina has lodged a grievance with Football Federation Australia for $1.7million.

The former Ajax, FC Twente, PSV Eindhoven and Gold Coast United midfielder is suing FFA for allegedly not ensuring he was insured when he went to Newcastle Jets.

Culina sustained a career-threatening knee injury whilst playing for Australia in January which he aggravated during pre-season for the Jets and it has emerged that he had never been insured to play in the A-League.

"FFA can confirm that a grievance notice has been lodged, but we will not make any public comment on the merits of the claim," an FFA spokesman told the Daily Telegraph.

"We would encourage all parties in this matter to respect the player's privacy and wait for due process to occur."
